Characteristics of the 5G school

A paradigm shift, a reformation larger than Martin Luther is coming within the entire education system from primary school to university. The collective intelligence means that we always carry the common knowledge with us. But we have to know where we want to go ourselves, if we don't know it ourselves then no chatbot can help us!

Academics who can only reproduce knowledge become largely redundant, AI reproduces faster and sees more fields in context than any academic is capable of. KI helps in creative processes and comes up with 20 ideas, where we ourselves might have 3-4. But we are the people who have to make the right choices.

The year AI receives a Nobel Prize is approaching, it will soon be credited as a co-researcher.

The generations (G) within the school system in the world - the annual figures are indicative, many teachers both in Norway and internationally work today within the framework of the 3G school:

1G - 19th century

Characteristics: Man is inherently evil and must be saved

2G - 20th century to the end of the post-war period

Characteristics: Physical punishment of children is natural

3G - From the mid-1960s to the mid-1990s

Characteristics: Children become "little adults" to a lesser extent. Progress is characterized by constantly new curricula

4G - 1996-present. The Internet opens up the world around us - information becomes easily accessible

Characteristics: Everything must be counted and measured. If this can't be done, then you shouldn't spend time on it...

5G - From now into the future. We start the symbiosis with the collective intelligence

Characteristics: Transition from separate subject areas to universal information

For the primary school, the 5G school may result in the following choices being made:

  • Increased emphasis on games and play to create a much larger learning space.

  • The students must become experts in self-management and focus on themselves as subjects with the ability to self-regulate and self-assess.

  • Collective intelligence is a natural assistant.

  • The use of coercion is abolished.

  • An international network of schools has close cooperation and shares projects.

  • The old school subjects are disappearing, the basic skills and interdisciplinary topics provide the framework for the school days.

  • The school week is divided into two themes each day, one teacher-led and one based on the pupils' suggestions

  • Increased use of activities, less sitting.

  • The children are shielded from screens in the first three school years.

The students will see the 5G school grow in a room that is extremely much larger and freer than the old classroom. They will also experience that freedom means taking greater responsibility for their own development. 5G means that knowledge will develop much faster than before. The reach increases - schools participate in a global alliance.

The myth of the Tower of Babel exists in many versions, but is actually rooted in reality. The tower was actually a pyramid (ziggurat) in Babylon of which there are remains today. In the Bible's version, the tower was part of an explanation for why people speak different languages around the world and struggle to understand each other. Humanity lacks unity.

The background for the large building was to try to create a bridge between earth and heaven. It should unite all the natural forces with the spiritual forces and bind all the people together in a network where everyone understands each other. But the Babylonians had to give up. Today, however, we have had such a network for several decades in the form of the internet. We also today have collective intelligence which enables everyone to understand each other across language barriers.

AI means that more and more routine work needs little or no human control and will change working life forever. Man will have a more creative role. The students must therefore build up skills in thinking creatively and analytically. AI always needs a detailed prompt (instructions) to be able to provide good help.

Working life has generally become more flexible, with a large increase in the use of home offices. The workers of the future will have increased influence over their own everyday life. The students want the same. It is a strong danger signal that 70% of ten to twelve year olds are bored at school. They want as little blackboard teaching as possible.

Some believe that using AI in schools is cheating. It will be the same as saying that you are cheating if you drive from one place to another instead of walking. AI is a tool in the same way as a car. It is clear that young people must use the entire toolbox, but students must learn when it is appropriate to use which tool.

The 5G school also has a foundation in quantum physics, which points to exciting connections between physics and psychology. The professional fields are connected in a much larger field.

The Global School Alliance is a network of globally cooperating schools, where many collaborate on projects related to the UN's goals for a more sustainable future. By working with children from different schools and backgrounds, students can learn about different cultures and lifestyles, which can lead to increased empathy and understanding for others.

Collaborating on projects and assignments with students from other schools can help children develop important communication and teamwork skills that will serve them well in the future. When children from different schools work together, they bring different perspectives and ideas, which can lead to more creative and innovative solutions to problems. By working with children in other parts of the world, students can learn about different cultures and ways of life. This can lead to increased empathy and understanding for others.

Students develop leadership and mentoring skills as they work to guide and support their peers. When students from different schools collaborate, they can share knowledge and learn from each other about new technologies and tools they may not have been exposed to before.

The time has come for the big change!
