Call of destiny

Text

Imagine closing your eyes and entering a serene forest. As you breathe deeply, you become the animal itself. You see through its eyes, feel its instincts, and sense its surroundings. Perhaps you become a wolf. Your senses sharpen—the rustle of leaves, the scent of prey, the moon’s glow—all vivid and immediate. Each power animal embodies unique qualities. For centuries we lived in close contact with nature, now we are destroying it. We are racing towards our destruction. We are becoming ducks and then cackling hens. Then the grim reaper will take us away.

In this musical score, we delve into the profound connection between shamanism and the human destruction of the biosphere. The journey begins with a deep breath, a symbolic act of grounding oneself in the present moment and opening up to the natural world. As you close your eyes, you are transported to a serene forest, a place untouched by human hands, where the air is pure, and the sounds of nature envelop you.

The transformation into an animal is a powerful metaphor for the shamanic journey. In shamanism, power animals are spiritual guides that embody specific qualities and strengths. By becoming the animal, you tap into these qualities, gaining a heightened awareness of your surroundings. As a wolf, your senses become razor-sharp. You can hear the faintest rustle of leaves, smell the distant scent of prey, and see the world bathed in the soft glow of the moon. This vivid and immediate experience is a reminder of the deep connection we once had with nature.

For centuries, humans lived in harmony with the natural world. We revered the animals, plants, and landscapes that sustained us. But as we advanced technologically, we began to distance ourselves from this connection. The industrial revolution marked the beginning of a new era, one where nature was no longer seen as a partner but as a resource to be exploited. Forests were cleared, rivers were dammed, and species were driven to extinction. The delicate balance that had sustained life for millennia was disrupted.

The musical score reflects this shift. The serene sounds of the forest give way to the harsh, mechanical noises of industry. The harmonious melodies of nature are replaced by discordant, jarring notes. This transition symbolizes the destruction of the biosphere, a process that has accelerated in recent decades. Climate change, deforestation, pollution, and overfishing are just a few of the ways we are pushing the planet to its limits.

As the music progresses, there is a sense of urgency. We are racing towards our destruction, driven by a relentless pursuit of growth and consumption. The imagery of becoming ducks and then cackling hens is a stark reminder of our loss of direction. Ducks, once symbols of grace and adaptability, are now confined to polluted waters. Hens, creatures of the earth, are reduced to cackling in overcrowded factory farms. These images highlight the degradation of both nature and humanity.

The grim reaper's presence in the score is a powerful symbol of the consequences of our actions. Death is not just a physical end but a metaphor for the loss of biodiversity, the collapse of ecosystems, and the extinction of species. The reaper's scythe cuts through the music, a reminder that time is running out. If we continue on this path, we will face irreversible damage to the planet and our own demise.

Yet, amidst the darkness, there is a glimmer of hope. The shamanic journey is not just about witnessing destruction but also about healing and transformation. The music shifts once again, incorporating elements of renewal and rebirth. The sounds of nature begin to re-emerge, tentative at first but growing stronger. This represents the potential for restoration if we choose to change our ways.

The final movement of the score is a call to action. It urges us to reconnect with the natural world, to remember the wisdom of our ancestors who lived in harmony with the earth. It challenges us to embrace sustainable practices, to protect and restore the ecosystems that sustain life. The power animals, once symbols of our connection to nature, become guides for a new way forward. They remind us that we have the strength and resilience to overcome the challenges we face.

In conclusion, this musical score is a poignant exploration of the relationship between shamanism and the human destruction of the biosphere. It takes us on a journey from the serene beauty of the natural world to the harsh realities of environmental degradation. It challenges us to confront the consequences of our actions and inspires us to seek a path of healing and renewal. Through the power of music, we are reminded of our deep connection to the earth and the urgent need to protect it for future generations.
